Nolan David Brown

    Birth Date: 11/02/2011
    Deceased Date: 12/13/2021

Nolan David Brown, age 10, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021, at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, NC after injuries sustained in a car accident.

Nolan was born on November 2, 2011, in Raleigh, NC to parents Christopher Brown and Tracy Harper Brown.

Nolan was all boy, all the time and was interested in all things most little boys are interested in, sports, the outdoors, Legos, Star Wars, video games, and so much more.

Nolan started playing sports at age 4 and began his sports career playing indoor soccer and T-ball with Selma Parks & Rec. After starting school at Princeton Elementary,

Nolan began splitting his sports time between playing soccer at Selma and playing baseball with Princeton’s Little Tarheel League. Last year it became evident that baseball was the sport he loved the most and he completed his first season of fall ball shortly after his 10th birthday in November.

Nolan loved playing with and supporting his teammates throughout the years even during the seasons when they were on opposing teams. More than anything he enjoyed being a Bulldog both on and off the field.

Being outdoors was one of Nolan’s favorite places to be, especially if water was involved. He loved to fish, which may be due to him being part fish with as much time as he spent at the beach or swimming in the pool. He would have swum or gone fishing everyday if somebody would take him.

Nolan always had a wonderfully large imagination and loved to build and create. He saw so much potential in an empty paper towel tube, a box, a stick or anything else others might consider trash. You could often find him saving these bits and pieces for his latest contraption, no matter how silly the concept might be. Whether it was a new toy for Grandma Phyllis’s kitties to play with, creating a train out of boxes, or repurposing a small box as a hat. His Grandaddy, Mike, helped foster this love of tinkering, letting him help with projects around the house or in the yard. He continued to express his interests in creation through his love of collecting and building Lego sets, especially his Star Wars kits.

His love of everything Star Wars was something Nolan shared with his dad, Chris, who introduced him to the franchise around age 6 when the Saga was resurrected through the introduction of the final Star Wars trilogy.

Nolan loved spending time with his momma Tracy, Grandma Rue, and Papa Jake. He also looked forward to the opportunity to cook with his Momma and playing video games and having Nerf battles with them when he went to their home. Always making sure to let Grandma Rue know when Papa Jake wasn’t moving fast enough to go play with him outside.

In the last couple of years, Nolan found a new role as a little brother when Nicki, Aliza, and Ethan came into his life. He loved to play basketball and video games, and was working on teaching the kids to fish “his way.” He also enjoyed going on runs around the neighborhood with Ethan during Cross Country season. He also was excited to help Aliza with her journey in the high school marching band and was excited to have had the opportunity to march with the band in the parades, helping carry the banner to announce their arrival.

Nolan never met a stranger and even when he did, that was something he would change very quickly; a trait he came by honestly from his dad, Chris. He could make a friend almost everywhere he went. Nolan didn’t have a mean bone in his body and loved his family, friends, and his pets so much. A sentiment that was reciprocated by all those who knew him. Nolan brought so much love and laughter to everyone around him. He had such a good heart and wanted to do all that he could to make you feel better when you were down. Although Nolan was only here for 10 short years, he has made such a lasting impression on so many that he will continue to live on in our hearts infinitely.

Nolan is survived by his father, Christopher Brown; Mother, Tracy Harper Brown; His father’s fiancée, Nicki Neville and her children Ethan and Aliza Eagle; Paternal Great-Grandmother, Joyce Brown; Paternal Grandparents, Michael and Phyllis Brown; Maternal Grandparents, Jason and LaRue Lowe; Uncle Jonathan Brown and wife Heather; Aunt Kelsey Nichols and husband Jeremy; Cousin, Daisy Brown; Beloved Dogs, Duke and Roxy.

Nolan is preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents Charles “Roy” and Vivian Crumpler, and W. Kenneth Brown; his maternal great-grandparents Bill and Mae Harper and Gladys Spence, and maternal grandfather Linwood Harper.
