Clayton, NC: Mrs. Rebecca Eloise Johnson Adams, age 86, of Deer Trail went to her heavenly reward on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at the First Christian Church of Smithfield. Officiating will be Rev. Beth Burton-Williams. Burial will follow in Mill Creek Christian Church Cemetery in Bentonville.
Mrs. Adams was born on July 10, 1937 in Johnston County to the late Cornelius and Alma Bryant Johnson. She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Ethel West, Judy Haney, Louis Johnson, Ira Johnson, Luther Johnson, Wiley Johnson, and James Johnson.
Mrs. Adams was a retired legal secretary for several law offices. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Smithfield for 32 years. Charles and Eloise referred to themselves as “the church mice” because there was no job too big or small. She was a Master Gardener Volunteer with the Johnston County Extension Service for over 30 years and was recognized as the Master Gardener of the Year several times.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Charles Adams; sisters, Myrtle Moore of Durham, Barbara Norris and husband, Loyied of Raleigh; and several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends following the committal service at Mill Creek Christian Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Smithfield, 1001 S. Crescent Drive, Smithfield, NC 27577.
