Sandra Bland Westbrook, 79, of Newton Grove passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024 at New Hanover Regional Hospital of Wilmington, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 3, 1944 to the late Charles Franklin Bland and Mary Ella King Bland.
Sandra loved her family more than anything. She was a caring person not only to her loved ones, but also to her plants as she enjoyed growing flowers. She took care of hanging baskets and ornamental plants. In 1976, she joined the Newton Grove Rescue Squad and served for 9 years. She was also a beautician who served her community.
Sandra was a person who truly cared about others.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph Bland; and sister, Clara Hadden.
She is survived and loved by her son, Scotty Westbrook (Vicki) of Clinton; Grandson, Nicholas Westbrook (Payton) of Wallace; Granddaughters, Savannah Westbrook of Clinton and Calleigh Westbrook of Clinton; and a Great Granddaughter, Shelby Westbrook of Wallace; brothers, Charles Bland (Irene) and Kenneth Bland (Pattie); and sister, Connie Strickland (David); and sister-in-law, Becky Bland.
She is also survived by her longtime companion of 43 years, Albert Bryan of Newton Grove, and the Bryan Family.
Sandra is also loved by many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church in Clinton. Visitation will be held an hour prior from 2:00 – 3:00 PM.
She will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery of Newton Grove.
