William Louis Rogan

    Birth Date: 02/12/1932
    Deceased Date: 01/14/2022

William Louis Rogan (1932-2022) passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 17, at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Clayton, NC.

Bill, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Pittsburgh, PA. He joined the US Navy after high school and served as an Aviation Engine Mechanic during the Korean War. Following his time in the service, he returned to Pittsburgh, honed his skills as a carpenter and then worked for several years at GRS&W Exhibit Company, where he met his wife, Nancy. Later he joined The Production Company, building trade show exhibits, enjoying the domestic and international travel that afforded him.

His hobbies largely centered around his love of aviation, but he also spent over 20 years renovating a cottage in Zelienople, PA, a project that was often joked as his escape from the women.

Upon retirement, Bill and Nancy moved to The Villages, FL. There, he continued to enjoy his passion for aviation and woodworking and further developed his skills for winemaking which he loved sharing with his friends and family.

Those surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Nancy (Closs) Rogan, his daughters Erin (Rogan) DiDiano and Megan (Rogan) Thomas, sons-in-law Brian DiDiano, Rob Thomas, and Michael Bluman, grandchildren Sydney Bluman, Mackenzie Bluman, Robert Thomas Jr., Austin DiDiano, Mia DiDiano, and Joshua Thomas. He is preceded in death by his father Carl Rogan, mother Mary Rogan, brother Carl Rogan Jr., sister Marion (Rogan) Clements, and daughter Kelly (Rogan) Bluman.

Bill’s greatest treasure was his family. He loved his wife dearly and would always do anything for his daughters. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, two charitable organizations with missions important to Bill.
