William “Slim” Earl Harris

    William Earl “Slim” Harris, age 77, died early Wednesday morning February 28, 2024 at his home. Born March 23, 1946 in Johnston County to the late William H. “Bill” and Clara Ree Wheeler Harris. William was a member of the Parrish Memorial Church. He enjoyed family and drag racing and was a “social butterfly” that could be found drinking coffee and talking about the topics of the days with his friends at Big Boys Truck Stop. He was a fan of John Deere tractors and equipment.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery at Fellowship Community Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 just prior to the service.

    Surviving are his wife, Dixie Harris; son, Andrew Harris of Selma; daughters, Heather Boyette and husband Sam of Kenly and Kim Powell and husband Mike of Smithfield; brothers, Elbert Harris of Kinston, Kenneth Harris of Kenly and Tony Harris of Goldsboro; sister, Blanche Weaver and husband Randy of Rosewood and three grandchildren, Travis Boyette, Alex Boyette and Carson Powell.
