Alan Carl Gardner, 70, formerly of Henderson and Smithfield, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 following a brief illness.
Alan was born Smithfield, NC, January 5, 1951, son of the late Fred Gardner, Sr. and Alma Kilpatrick Gardner. He was a graduate of Smithfield High School and Western Carolina University. Alan began his work career with the NC Department of Revenue, and continued to work in the finance and insurance industries for several years. His last career was in pawn broking and he owned and operated multiple stores in eastern North Carolina. Alan was gregarious, lived life to the fullest and spent his last days enjoying his family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Gardner.
Surviving are his son, Kelly Gardner and his wife Paulina; a grandson, Diego Gardner; two brothers, Fred Gardner, Jr.. and his family and Kevin Gardner and his family.
At Alan’s request, there will be no formal services held. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
