Clarence Wesley “Jack” Evans

    Benson, NC: Mr. Clarence Wesley “Jack” Evans, age 91, of Old Fairground Road passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at his daughter’s residence. Graveside Services will be held 2:00PM Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Devotional Gardens in Dunn. Rev. Lester Bledsoe will officiate.

    Mr. Evans was born on December 12, 1929 in Pearson County to the late Eugene Lacy and Betty Stone Evans. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Vaughn Evans; his son, Victor Evans; grandchildren, Donnie and Daniel Parker; sisters, Mussette Hawkins, Gloria Matthews, Shirley Holland, Verna Wilburn, Elizabeth Evans; brothers, Tom Evans and Eugene Evans. Mr. Evans was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was a US Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Smithfield VFW. Mr. Evans retired from Clancey and Theys Construction Company as lead carpenter for over 20 years.

    Surviving include his children, Shelia E. Rouse and husband, Dan of Apex, Scott Evans of Benson; daughter-in-law, Susan Evans of Benson; grandchildren, Melissa Austin and husband, Shane, Wesley Evans, and Danny Parker; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Tucker Austin; sister, Thurma Stephenson of Benson; brother, Billy Evans of Richmond, VA; special friend, Pat Byrd of Smithfield; several nieces and nephews.

    Family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service and other times at the home.

    The Evans Family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to everyone that extended a helping hand to Mr. Jack during illness.

    In lieu of flowers; memorials may be sent to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1400 Old Fairground Road, Willow Spring, NC 27592.
