PINE LEVEL – Clifton Troy Jones, age 82, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017. Born in Johnston County on October 2, 1934, he was the son of the late Charlie Troy and Ethel Irene Aycock Jones, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Allen Jones, on February 6, 2016 and a son Danny Jones. Clifton worked with heavy equipment for approximately 50 years much of that time with S. T. Wooten. He was a quiet, simple man, who loved his family, always providing for their needs. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing his guitar and working with his tractors and took great pride in the restorations that he has done. Clifton was a US Army veteran and in his later years gave his life to Christ and showed it in his works and deeds. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Kenly Pentecostal Holiness Church, 300 South College Avenue, Kenly. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Oliver-Wiggs Cemetery, near his home.
Surviving are his sons, Ray Jones and wife Wanda of Kenly and Mike Jones of Selma; sisters, Martha Clark and Edith Johnson both of Kenly; grandsons, Daryl Jones and Michael Jones both of Pine Level and one great grandson, Asher Jones. Also surviving are 6 nieces and 4 nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service at the church.
