Dorothy Godwin Parrish

    Birth Date: 12/19/1940
    Deceased Date: 12/30/2020

Dorothy Godwin Parrish, age 80, of Selma finally found the treasure she was always looking for when she went Home to be with her Heavenly Father on December 30, 2020.

She fought and finally won a courageous battle with cancer for the last three years, and was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Gayle, and husband, Carson for the past two years after her devoted husband of 60 years, Steve, passed away on December 19, 2018.

Born December 19, 1940 in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. J.B. & Zona Godwin. Dottie enjoyed many countless days surf fishing with Steve on the Outer Banks and later at their river house in Oriental, NC. She never found a thrift store she didn’t like, and her most famous saying was “I just might find the treasure I’ve always wanted here.” She and Steve were faithful members of United Faith Christian Church.

She is survived by and was the loving mother of Gayle (Carson) Price of Selma, Doug (Denise) Parrish of Middlesex, and Susan (Darren) Hales of Helena, MT. She was the loving “Grandma Dot Dot” to 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren with another on the way, and one special grandchild. She is also survived by a brother, Brian Godwin (Deborah); and sisters Joan Thompson (Everette), Peggy Hawley (Bobby), and Joyce Crocker; and several nieces and nephews.

Dottie’s favorite Bible verse, which she quoted often, was “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 1:00 PM at United Faith Christian Church, 6254 NC Highway 39, Selma, NC.
