Benson, NC: Mr. Douglas McArthur “Doug” Bethune, age 77, of Hwy 242 South died Saturday, December 7, 2019, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.
Mr. Bethune was born on April 9, 1942 in Georgia to the late Burdie D. and Lena Bethune. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, B.D. Bethune, Bobby Bethune, Dennis Bethune and Travis Bethune; sisters, Burdice and Christine; and daughter-in-law, Terran Alexandra Funney Bethune. Mr. Bethune was a retired iron worker in the construction industry. He loved his family and his many dogs.
Surviving include his wife of 47 years, Delores Ann Tart Bethune; sons, Richard Dewayne Bethune and wife, Melanie and Darryl Lee Bethune all of Florida; Dennis Earl Bethune of Dunn; daughter, Karen Denise B. McDougald and husband, Lewis of Lillington; grandchildren, Kyle Bethune and wife, Jenn, Anthony Curtis Parker, Andrew Knuckles and wife, Lauren, Mikayla Miller and husband, Sean, Joshua Tyler Bethune and wife, Lauren, Devin McMillan and Dylan McDougald; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Roy Bethune and wife, Pluma and Ottis Bethune and wife, Barbara all of Florida; many nieces and nephews.
