    PRINCETON – Elbert Todd Fitzgerald, Jr., age 78, died Friday evening at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born May 21, 1940, in Sampson County to the late Elbert Todd Fitzgerald and Myrtle Estelle Williford Fitzgerald Smith, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, David Britt Fitzgerald, and a half-sister, Jackie F. Henson. Elbert was a member of the Pine Level Lions Clubs, the Pine Level First United Methodist Church and the Bladen County Classic Car Club. For 20 years Elbert was the manager of the W. L. Smith Plumbing Supply before starting his own plumbing business. He was the owner and operator of Fitz Water Control in Princeton for more than 40 years before closing in 2013.
    A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Pine Level First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brennan Hurley and the Rev. Lyn Renfrow officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall, just prior to the service.
    Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Emmie T. Fitzgerald; brother, Sammy Fitzgerald of Princeton; sisters, Jennifer Fitzgerald and Jennie F. Smith both of Princeton; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved 14 year old, cocker spaniel, Abby.
    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Pine Level First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 161, Pine Level, NC 27568.
