Benson, NC: Mrs. Hixie Johnson Pope, age 81, of Gilbert Road died Thursday at her residence. Funeral services will be held 3:00PM Sunday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Burial will follow in Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Benson.
Mrs. Pope was born on February 19, 1935 in Johnston County to the late Blake and Thelma Baker Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Alton Pope; daughter, Frida P. Raynor; son, Ernest Alton Pope, Jr. and brother, Phil Johnson. Mrs. Pope retired from Block Industries and farming. She was also a member of Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church and American Legion Auxiliary Banner Post 109.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy P. and Glenn Johnson of Benson; son-in-law, Danny Lee Raynor of Benson; foster son, Mike Langdon of Benson; brother, Glenn Autry Johnson of Pine Level; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wood Johnson of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Patrick Johnson and Amber D. Raynor; great grandchildren, Hunter Johnson and Daniel Morris; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 1:30PM to 2:30PM Sunday prior to the service at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
