    James Edward “Kill” Lawhon, age 78, of Selma passed away at his home on December 23, 2017. Born on August 1, 1938, he was the son of the late Alex and Bertha Hughes Lawhon. His wife was the late Elizabeth Hatcher Lawhon. Mr. Lawhon worked for many years as a carpenter for the Johnston County School System and spent his free time in the woods hunting.
    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 26, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with burial following in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 10-11 AM.
    Surviving are his son, James E. “Eddie” Lawhon, Jr. of Selma; grandchildren Jason and April Lawhon; brother Frank Lawhon of Brogden; sisters Edna Sykes of Garner, Gladys Woodard of Tennessee, Eloise Griffin of Princeton, Elizabeth Wall of Smithfield, Connie Breci of Clayton, Doris Crews of Garner, Brenda Stroud of Garner, Carolyn Woodard of Smithfield and Shirley Sorci of Smithfield; and his special friend Mavis Batten of Selma.
