Selma – Jerry Kent Barnes, age 63, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at the Franklin Manor Assisted Living facility in Youngsville, North Carolina. Born on May 2, 1956 he was the fourth son of the late Lloyd Rudolph and Clara Starling Barnes of Selma, North Carolina. He was a 1974 graduate of Smithfield-Selma High School, Smithfield, NC.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney Pearce officiating. Burial will follow in Price Cemetery near Pine Level. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday just an hour prior to the service at Temple.
Jerry is preceded in death by brothers, Bobby Rudolph Barnes, Bernie Randolph Barnes and Joe Randy “Butch” Barnes. Surviving are three nephews, Allan Barnes, Keith Barnes, and Scott Barnes; two nieces, Vicky Stallings and Cameron Carroll; two great nephews, Allan Michael Barnes and Eric Barnes; one great niece, Ashten Richardson; and one great, great niece, Natalie Forbes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Franklin Manor, 100 Sunset Drive, Youngsville, NC 27596 in memory of Jerry Barnes.
