Marcus “Marc” Vann Johnson

    Marcus Vann “Marc” Johnson, age 63, died peacefully early Sunday morning, December 8, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born August 5, 1956 in Johnston County he was a son of Doris Davis Johnson of Smithfield and to the late Joseph “Shorty” Johnson.

    Marc was an active member of Brogden Fire Department where he served as a fireman and on the Fire Department Honor Guard for over 30 years. During his early years he was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and in his later years he was a longtime member of Tee’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Smithfield, serving as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and youth leader. Marc enjoyed spending time with his children on the ball field, umpiring and coaching their softball and baseball games throughout the years. Marc also served as Scout Leader and later as a Scout Master. His favorite place to be was on the beach with his family, fishing pole in hand.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2019 in Tee’s Chapel FWB Church with Rev. Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Tee’s Chapel FWB Church in Smithfield.

    Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Candy Johnson; daughter, April Page and husband Kyle of Cleveland, TN; son, Matthew Johnson and wife Hannah; brother, Kim Johnson and wife Suzanne of Smithfield; and grandchildren, Jacob Page, Isaac Page, and Caroline Page.
