Marie Brinkley Queen, age 91, of Hancock Street in Smithfield died unexpectedly on Monday, October 15, at Johnston Health. Born in Davidson County on April 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Tice Anthony and Belle Haynes Brinkley. Mrs. Queen was also proceeded in death by her husband, Sam Queen and her oldest son, Timothy Queen. She has resided in Smithfield since 1950 where she and her husband owned Queen’s Antiques until their retirement. She was a member of Corinth United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 18, at 12 noon in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield with Rev. Bill Spencer officiating. The family will gather and receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma Thursday at 11 AM, just prior to the service.
Surviving are her son Sammy Queen of Snead’s Ferry, her daughter Susan Ashley and husband Jack of Morehead City, and her sister Helen Coggin of Thomasville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Corinth United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 4170 US 301 South, Four Oaks, NC 27524.
