Marie Mitchell Kornegay, 82, of Wayne County passed away at her home on Monday evening March 11, 2019. She was born May 18, 1936 in Johnston County to the late Luby Mitchell and Letha Pearce Mitchell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Lawrence Kornegay. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations with the Reverend Jeff Barnes officiating. The committal will follow the service in Princeton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.
She is survived by sons, Lawrence Kornegay and wife Sherrie of Goldsboro, and Dickie Kornegay and Mary Edwards of Goldsboro; brothers, Shelton Mitchell of Princeton, Melton “Buck ” Mitchell of Princeton, Raylon “Charlie” Mitchell of Princeton, and Joe Thomas “Doc” Mitchell of Princeton; sisters, Thelma Capps of Princeton, Mavis “Trudy” Capps of Princeton, Bonnie “Sue” Pipkin of Goldsboro, Connie Starling of Princeton, and Beverly Talton of Princeton; grandchildren, Tommy Kornegay, Travis Kornegay, David Kornegay, Lindsay Johnson, Jamie Watson, and Tara Fones; great grandchildren, Kristen Kornegay, Gauge Kornegay, Thomas “Tank” Kornegay, Jessica Fones, Kaitlynn Watson, Kayden Newcomb, Avery Pearl Spencer, Jacob “Peanut” Fones, Jordan Fones, Rayleigh Johnson, Teagan Kornegay and Baby Girl Kornegay on the way.
