Mary Louise Johnson Chamberlain

    Birth Date: 07/02/1943
    Deceased Date: 06/18/1921

Benson, NC: Mrs. Mary Louise Johnson Chamberlain – a quick-witted, vivacious lady – passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the age of 77 in Dunn, NC, with her family by her side.

Mrs. Chamberlain was born in Johnston County, NC to the late Willie B. and Lucy Mae Capps Johnson. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Wayne Johnson, granddaughter, Kathy Ann Zahn, her brother, James Elmond (J.E.) Johnson, and three sisters: Ms. Lois Dean Johnson, Mrs. Willie Mae Johnson Maynor, and Mrs. Vira Ellen Johnson Bryant.

Mrs. Chamberlain was the matriarch of her family – raising not only her own children but providing steadfast presence in the upbringing of her grandchildren. Well known for her belief in strong, consistent discipline (“spare the rod, spoil the child”) she was equally enthusiastic in showering herfamily with “I love you” and hugs and kisses aplenty. She always put her family first, often ahead of her own needs –providing for them by any means necessary. Her family will miss her spunky playfulness – always quick with a joke and sly smile. She enjoyed shopping, fishing, and cooking for family – and no one – and we do mean no one – will ever manage to match her homemade cream potatoes, buttermilk biscuits, chicken pastry, banana pudding, and pineapple cake, amongst other favorites.

Surviving include her husband of 55 years, Joseph F.Chamberlain Jr., children, Marty Chamberlain, Belinda SueJohnson, Bonnie Chandler, Timothy B. Johnson, Joseph Francis Chamberlain III., April W. McLamb and husband, Robbie Ballance, and Amber Nicole Johnson; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
