Garner, NC: Mrs. Melva Benson Dunn, age 83, died Sunday, July 26, 2020 at UNC Rex Heathcare in Raleigh. Graveside Funeral Services will be 11:00AM, Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church Cemetery, 343 Wood’s Crossroads Road, Benson, NC. Officiating will be Rev. Scott Johnson.
Mrs. Dunn was born on February 21, 1937. She was welcomed by her parents, Willie and Minnie Benson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wilbur Dunn, a son, James Ronnie Dunn, a daughter, Jane Reneé Dunn and several brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles. She was a retired Administrative Assistant in the education department with the NC Division of Prisons. Mrs. Dunn was a member of Garner Advent Christian Church.
Surviving include her daughter, Michele D. Harrington of Waxhaw; grandchildren, Brianna Harrington and Elliott Harrington; sisters, Jean Lee of Dunn and Carol Jernigan of Benson and a brother, Jerry Holley of Four Oaks; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9:45AM to 10:45AM, Wednesday, July 29, 2020 prior to the graveside service in the church sanctuary at Stone’s Creek Advent Christian Church.
In accordance with the current NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home request practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W’s: wait, wash, and wear a face covering.
