    Benson, NC: Mrs. Ruby Moore McLamb, age 96, of 207 Carolyn Drive, died Friday, June 7, 2019 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM-Monday, June 10, 2019 at Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church in Benson. Rev. Joe Brown and her brother, Rev. Archie “Parlie” Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in church cemetery.

    Mrs. McLamb was born on August 14, 1922 in Johnston County to the late Archie and Lela Wood Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malon A. McLamb; siblings, William Pinkney Moore, Addie Pearl Webb, Alice Barefoot, Ada Barefoot, Vera Webb, Clarence Moore, Delilah Barefoot, Myrtis Jackson, Janice McLamb. Mrs. McLamb graduated as valedictorian of Meadow High School Class of 1939. She had many occupations during her life from starting out as a farmer’s wife to lending a hand with the family business, McLamb’s Fish Market to being the Maître D of the famous Macon Hotel in Benson. Mrs. McLamb was also a seamstress and known for the beautiful quilts that she quilted. She was a member of Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church where she served in the WH & FMS and the choir and also served as WH & FMS secretary of the Southern Region Advent Christian Church Conference.

    Surviving include her daughters, Rochelle M. Wood and husband, Allen of Four Oaks, Brenda M. Maidon and husband, Dennis of Clayton; grandchildren, Kenny Mack Wood and wife, Brookie of Raleigh, Stephen Wood and wife, Monica of Benson; great- grandchildren, Tyler Wood and wife, Meredith of Edenton, 2nd Lt. Austin Wood of Ft. Rucker, Alabama, Ayden Wood and Maggie Wood of Benson; great-great- grandson, Grayson Thomas Wood; step-grandchildren, Wendy Maidon of Clayton, Janet Wall and husband, Tony of Willow Spring; brothers, James Moore of Four Oaks; Rev. Archie “Parlie” Moore and wife, Rozella of Chattanooga, TN; and many nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends 6:00PM to 8:00PM Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at her home.

    Flowers are welcomed; however, the family suggest memorials be made to Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church P. O. Box 423 Benson, NC 27504.
