Benson, NC: Mrs. Sylvia Gaines Johnson, age 78, of 503 West Woodall Street died Saturday, September 23, 2017, at her home. Graveside Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Roselawn Cemetery. Officiating will be Mr. David Williams.
Mrs. Johnson was born on March 5, 1939 in Chatham County to the late Graham Glenn and Alice Vera Phillips Gaines. She was also preceded in death by her husband, D. Heber Johnson, Jr. She and her husband owned and operated D. H. Johnson & Sons. Mrs. Johnson graduated from Benson High School in 1957 and was a member of Benson Baptist Church.
Surviving are son, D. H. Johnson, III of Benson, special cousin, Dale Phillips Williams of Apex; sisters-in-law, Anne J. Lee of Benson and Frances J. King of Greensboro; brother-in-law, Dan Johnson of Winston-Salem; and several loving extended family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00PM Monday at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
