Teresa Butler Carter, 61 of Smithfield NC, died September 19, 2020 at her home. She was born November 29, 1958 in Scotland County to Mary Catherine Rogers and the late Daniel Butler. She married the love of her life Douglas Wayne Carter July 21, 1972, of which she precedes in death. She is also preceded in death by her step-dad Doug Rogers and her sister Vickie Futch.
She is survived by her four daughters, Christy Carter Shirley and husband Marty Shirley of Princeton, Rosa Carter Hales and husband Donnie Hales of Middlesex, Priscilla Kay Roberts and husband Mark Anthony Roberts, Sr. of Clayton, Marie Carter and partner Michael Hatton of Clayton; nine grandchildren Dylan and Halle Shirley, Kayla and Carson Hales, Mark (AJ) Jr and Amber Roberts, Alexis, Hailey, and Braden Wilson; three sisters Shirley Carter and spouse Robert Carter Sr., Barbara Oxendine, Brenda Brooks; and brother Danny Butler.
Teresa was a care giver to all that entered in her life from her late husband, to her children, grandchildren, family, friends, neighbors, and her friends that became her family at Pine Knoll Manor II. Teresa’s heart were her kids, son-in-laws, grandchildren, but most of all her husband. She had an empty spot in her heart from September 2017 to her passing. Although we are deeply saddened here on earth, we are left at peace knowing she is happy with her husband by her side in their heavenly home.
