    Smithfield – Woody Howard Wilkinson, age 68, passed away on February 1, 2019 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born in Beaufort County on April 8, 1950, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Barbra Wilkinson. Mr. Wilkinson was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Wilkinson, and a sister, Patricia Johnson.
    Funeral services will be conducted 2PM Monday, February 4, 2019 at Centenary United Methodist in Smithfield with burial following in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the church from 12:30 until 2 PM, just prior to the service.
    Mr. Wilkinson is survived by wife, Bonnie Cobb Wilkinson; son, Nick Wilkinson and wife Emily of Smithfield; daughter, Kelly Wilkinson of Raleigh; brother, Kelly Wilkinson and wife Pam of Kansas; sister, Jackie Robbins and husband Homer of Elm City; sister-in- law, Diane Wilkinson; brother-in-law Charlie Johnson; grandchildren, Addison and Ella Kate Wilkinson of Smithfield.
    He was a member of the Smithfield Rotary for the past 23 years. He was also a past president of the Rotary club. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the board of trustees, and several committees within the church. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking and traveling. He loved spending time with his family at Sunset Beach.
    Mr. Wilkinson graduated from Dunn High School in 1969. After high school Mr. Wilkinson attended Appalachian State University where he received a BS and a master in business. He also taught in for 9 years at Johnston Community College following his graduation from Appalachian State. Mr. Wilkinson worked for Mutual of New York and Sound Partners as a certified financial planner for 36 years.
