An off duty Wilson Police officer was arrested for driving while impaired while in Johnston County on Sunday.
Around 12:30am, a state trooper stopped a car for speeding 61mph in a 45mph zone on Cornwallis Road outside of Clayton. The driver of the car was identified as an off-duty Wilson Police officer, Sgt. C.J. Sanders.
Sanders was on her personal vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. She later registered 0.08 on the Breathalyzer.
Sgt. Sanders was charged with DWI and speeding. She was released into the custody of a family member on a written promise to appear in court on the charges.
According to Wilson Police, Sgt. Sanders has been placed administrative duty pending the completion of an internal investigation.
