WILSON’S MILLS, N.C. — One person is facing multiple charges following a domestic-related break-in attempt Tuesday morning in a residential neighborhood in Wilson’s Mills.

According to Wilson’s Mills Police Chief A.Z. Williams, officers responded around 8:29 a.m. on March 17 to a reported breaking and entering in progress at a home on Maple Tree Lane in the Mill Creek at Wilson’s Mills subdivision.

When officers arrived, they found an injured man standing in the front yard. He told police he had been struck in the head with a pipe. Authorities said the injury was not life-threatening.

The homeowner reported that two men had broken the rear sliding glass door and attempted to enter the residence. Both suspects fled the scene by jumping a fence into Wilson’s Mills Community Park, leaving behind the vehicle they arrived in — a late-model Mercury Mariner parked in the driveway.

Clayton Police responded to assist with a K-9 unit, along with deputies from the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. One individual was initially detained on Powhatan Road a short distance away.

However, after further investigation, authorities determined that the first person detained was not involved in the incident and would not face charges. Police said the situation was domestic in nature, and the individual had been inadvertently caught up in the events.

Approximately two hours later, Wilson’s Mills Police located and arrested a second suspect, identified as Dalano Johnson, on Southerland Road near the Ives Landing subdivision.

Johnson faces multiple charges, including communicating threats, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, breaking and entering, three counts of injury to real property, and domestic criminal trespass. He was held without bond at the Johnston County Detention Center pending his first appearance in court.
