A western Johnston County family says someone broke into their home and took over $34,000 in cash and property..
The three victims left to go to work Saturday around 9:00am. One of the family members returned home around 12:30pm and noticed the garage door was open to their residence on Fieldcrest Drive in the Mill Branch subdivision off Wiggins Road in western Johnston County. Authorities said it appears someone pried open the garage door to gain entry.
Once inside, the intruders reportedly stole $20,000 in gold jewelry, $12,500 in cash, a laptop computer, cell phone, and blank checks.
The victim reported that one bedroom in the home had been ransacked while the other rooms appeared to have been undisturbed.
Johnston County sheriff’s detectives are investigating.
