Pair Accused Of Stealing Credit Card From Elderly Woman

WILLOW SPRING — Two Smithfield residents are facing felony charges after authorities say they stole a credit card from a 75-year-old woman and used it to make a purchase.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on October 11 at the victim’s home in the Willow Spring community in western Johnston County. Investigators allege that William Alvin Hill Jr., 58, and Latonya Nicole Hill, 43, took the woman’s financial card and used it to rent a vehicle, charging $178 without authorization.

Deputies obtained warrants for the pair, who were arrested on October 22. Both are charged with felony financial card theft and felony financial card fraud.

Authorities said the victim and two suspects were acquaintances.
