SELMA – A driver returning home from a day at an ATV park reportedly swerved to avoid slowing traffic on Buffalo Road just outside of Selma, Saturday evening, and collided head-on with on oncoming truck. Both vehicles were heavily damaged but the drivers and passengers were not injured.
However, as the pickup truck in tow was being loaded on the back of a tow truck, a pedestrian involved was struck by a passing car. The driver of the hit-and-run vehicle did not stop — but did leave key evidence behind, according to authorities.
The pedestrian who was struck suffered painful but non-life threatening injuries.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol investigated both accidents. Buffalo Road was shut down for about an hour.
What is with these hit & run scumbags lately?! Running for a reason!!! No DL/Drunk/Drugs/No greencard/Has a warrant … oh the list goes on.
We need more checkpoints, might help clean up the trash that’s spewing around our county.
I wish the sheriff or NCSHP would step up patrol on Buffalo Road and Live Oak Church RD. 6-9am and 3-6pm people think it’s a racetrack. Passing on double lines on a hill is not very smart but I see it every week. It’s just a matter of time before the next fatality. Those particular times for some reason they come through in packs running easily 20 mph over the speed limit.
