SMITHFIELD – The driver of a pickup truck was injured in a traffic accident Friday afternoon. It happened on Interstate 95 near the 92 mile marker, just south of Smithfield.
For an unknown reason, the northbound truck drifted to the left into the median, then swerved right, traveling off the roadway and head-on into a pine tree.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
The unidentified driver was transported to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh with serious injuries.
How can you not see a big ole tree? Never had this problem back in New York..
