SMITHFIELD – Plans have been submitted for a new drive thru oil change business in Smithfield. A site plan was recently submitted to the Town of Smithfield for Take 5 Oil Change at 1309 N. Brightleaf Boulevard, across from Classic Ford.

Smithfield Take Five, LLC of Charlotte purchased two adjacent lots in May 2022, according to Johnston County tax records.

The oil change business will be constructed on the southern lot, according to the plans submitted. Town officials said the vacant lot to the north is being considered for development as a restaurant. The name of the restaurant was not disclosed.

A timeline for construction of the new oil change business was not available. We have reached out to the developer of the project for more information.

  1. Just what is needed there…traffic is already congested ….. just because there is an empty spot doesn’t mean something has to go there…

  2. Is this the place with the crazy commercials – like the lady knitting the family sweaters? Not fond of the commercials and hubby changes our oil, but why not plan for places with greenery, trees, benches – a place for people to go and sit and read a book or scroll on their tablet or just sit while someone shops. Not a huge park with screaming kids, just a space with plants, flowers, trees, benches, maybe a water feature and some local sculpture pieces.

  3. I’m sure the owners of the land would be willing to sell to any interested party while plans are still in the making. Why don’t you people who object to the plans of the owners buy the two lots. Once you own the lots you can do as you see fit. If you don’t purchase the lots, the current owners will do as they will with their land.
