Police Investigate Fatal Collision In Dunn

DUNN – A passenger died following a two-vehicle collision Sunday at a busy intersection in Dunn.
Dunn Police said the collision involved a Ford F-250 traveling east on U.S. 421 and a Chevrolet Equinox traveling west. The driver of the Equinox was attempting to make a left turn into the Dunn Plaza Shopping Center when the vehicle turned into the path of the pickup truck and was struck on the passenger side.

A passenger in the Chevrolet Equinox, identified as Sheila McNeill, sustained critical injuries and was transported to Betsy Johnson Hospital, where she later died, police said.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol and the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit were requested to assist with crash reconstruction. The investigation remains ongoing, and investigators are working to obtain video surveillance from nearby businesses.

At this time, police said impairment and speed are not believed to be contributing factors. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
