Police detectives in both Selma and Smithfield need help identifying this woman wanted for questioning for allegedly scamming cashiers at two local grocery stores. Authorities believe there may be other businesses in the area who have also been scammed but don’t realize they’ve lost money.
Last Sunday, the woman went to the Food Lion in Selma and requested change from clerks at two registers. While making change she would request another transaction to make more change. Ultimately, she would confuse the cashiers and slip money in her pocket. She scammed $330 from the two cashiers in Selma.
The same woman is a person of interest in a similar incident at Food Lion in Smithfield last week.
Police said the woman is a Hispanic female with two gold teeth.
If you recognize her you are asked to contact Selma Police at 919-965-8189 or Smithfield Police at 919-934-2121. Callers can remain anonymous.
