Police Seek Customer Accused Of Spitting Food On Restaurant Worker

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Police are trying to identify a disgruntled customer accused of spitting chewed food on an employee at a Smithfield fast food restaurant.

The alleged assault was reported Aug. 6 around 8:23 p.m. at Subway, located at 905 S. Brightleaf Boulevard.

According to Smithfield Police, the customer purchased food and left the restaurant before returning to complain about the order.

The customer left the business again, but reportedly returned a second time.

During the second encounter, police said the customer began chewing the food before spitting it on an employee.

The employee reported the incident to police. The customer had left the restaurant before officers arrived.

Police are working to identify the customer and are investigating the incident as an alleged assault.
