The Town of Clayton will hold two public hearings next month to discuss a new subdivision and cell phone tower.
During a meeting Monday night, the Clayton Town Council agreed to hold public hearings on both proposed projects on July 18th.
Umstead Partners LLC wants to develop a 42-lot subdivision for single family homes on a 19.8 acre tract on Amelia Church Road. The property is located between the Coxwoods and Wynston subdivisions.
The developer has proposed the main entrance be located off Amelia Church Road through Gregory Drive, and for seven units to be accessed from Dayflower Drive, located in the Wynston Subdivision. The developer is also requesting the land be rezoned.
Crown Castle has asked town officials to approve a 164 foot cell tower in the 3600 block of Covered Bridge Road, which is between the Riverwood subdivision in Clayton and the Cooper Farms subdivision in Archer Lodge.
The proposed tower would be sued by Verizon Wireless but would have additional antenna space for other cell phone providers. Crown Castle wants to lease an 80 foot by 80 foot tract of land out of a 98.4 acre parcel owned by the Louis F. Pourron Life Estate.
