Public Invited To Bid On Johnston County Surplus Vehicles

SMITHFIELD – Johnston County will auction surplus vehicles from the Sheriff’s Office, Public Utilities and other consignors on Sunday, November 8.
The online auction, conducted by Wester Auction & Realty, includes former law enforcement vehicles such as Dodge Chargers and Chevrolet Tahoes.
Among the vehicles listed for sale are a 2023 Dodge Charger, several 2021 Dodge Chargers and older Chevrolet Tahoes. Many of the vehicles have more than 100,000 miles.
The Johnston County Board of Commissioners previously approved declaring 19 Sheriff’s Office vehicles surplus and selling them at auction.
The public will have an opportunity to inspect the vehicles during an on-site preview Friday, November 6, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 20 Fleet Services Drive in Smithfield.
Online bidding is underway, with the first lot scheduled to close Sunday at 6 p.m.
There is no buyer’s premium, meaning successful bidders will not pay an additional auction fee on top of their winning bids.
All vehicles are sold as-is, with no warranties or guarantees. Prospective buyers are encouraged to inspect the vehicles before bidding.
Payment must be completed by 3 p.m. Monday, November 9. Accepted payment methods include cash, cashier’s checks and wire transfers. Vehicles must be removed by Wednesday, November 11, to avoid storage fees.
