Report: Two Bags Of Narcotics Tossed From Car During Traffic Stop

PRINCETON – A routine traffic stop on Highway 70 just west of Princeton resulted in the arrest of the driver on drug charges.

Cortez D’Angelo Scarboro, age 38, of Raleigh was charged with felony possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

On December 29 around 10:06pm, a patrol deputy stopped a car Scarboro was reportedly operating for a traffic violation. As Scarboro was pulling over beside of Highway 70, two small bags were allegedly tossed out of the vehicle onto the shoulder.

Scarboro was detained. A deputy located one of the bags and a sheriff’s K-9 located the second bag, both containing suspected marijuana. A total of 49 grams of marijuana was seized along with a digital scale and rolling papers.

Scarboro was held under a $10,000 secured bond.
