SBI: Former Pinetown Fire, EMS Treasurer Took About $200,000

BEAUFORT COUNTY – A former treasurer for two Pinetown emergency service organizations is accused of taking approximately $200,000 from their accounts during 2024 and 2025.

Terry William Draper, who served as treasurer of both the Pinetown Volunteer Fire Department and Pinetown Rescue & EMS Squad, has been indicted on five counts of embezzlement.

According to the State Bureau of Investigation, agents began looking into Draper after large withdrawals were discovered from accounts belonging to the fire department, EMS squad and their combined association.

Investigators allege the withdrawals were made without the knowledge or approval of the organizations’ governing boards.

The SBI estimates approximately $200,000 was taken during 2024 and 2025.

Draper was arrested and booked into the Beaufort County jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

The SBI said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges could be sought.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and Pitt County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
