Taylor

SELMA – After serving less than two years, the Selma town council voted Tuesday night to fire Town Manager Brent Taylor. The unanimous vote to terminate is employment contract followed a closed session of the town board.

Mr. Taylor had served as the town manager since April 1, 2021. One official said Taylor “no longer met their qualifications.”

Deputy Town Manager and Chief Financial Officer Rhonda Sommer was named the Interim Town Manager.

Brent Taylor previously served as City Administrator in Walhalla, South Carolina before being hired by the Town of Selma in April 2021. Taylor replaced former town manager Steven Hicks who resigned August 3, 2020 after nine months on the job.

The Town of Selma has had five town managers since 2016.

  1. I don’t the story about this guy specifically, but after so many town managers over the past few years, can we agree that maybe Selma is the problem?

  2. the shelf life for a town manager in Selma is very, very short. if your looking for a part time job …….

  3. Brent Taylor did a lot for Selma. Very smart man! He even walked the streets picking up trash trying to clean up the nastiness of Selma. He didn’t feel like he was above getting his hands dirty. Wonder who’s next on the fired list, because you better believe they’re on a roll! It’s coming! Rarely does the council even support the small businesses in Selma, but Brent Taylor did. Maybe the council won’t have a choice but to run Selma’s sh*t show when they have a hard time finding someone to put up with them.

  4. He was most likely doing a fine job. I would be willing to bet he didn’t follow suit with trashy ways….
