Utility crews with the Town of Smithfield have clean up a sewage spill. The spill was discovered behind 7 Berkshire Road on Tuesday. Smithfield Water and Sewer Superintendent Aubrey Butler said about 1,000 gallons of wastewater had spilled on the ground.
Town crews began making repairs on Tuesday. Butler said those repairs should be completed by the end of the day on Thursday.
The Town has also notified state water quality officials about the spill, which is standard procedure.
