Sheriff’s Office: Domestic Shooting Leaves Woman Dead, Teen Wounded

CLAYTON, N.C. — A Clayton man has been charged with murder after authorities say he fatally shot his girlfriend and wounded her teenage son early Saturday morning.
Johnston County deputies responded around 2:50 a.m. to a 911 hangup call at a home on Valleyfield Drive off N.C. 42 East.
As deputies attempted to make contact with someone inside the home, they heard multiple gunshots from within the residence.
Moments later, 18-year-old Zykeith Shaw jumped from a second-floor window after being shot once. Deputies assisted him to safety and provided medical aid until Johnston County EMS arrived.

Shaw told deputies his mother, 41 year-old Princess Russell, had also been shot and was still inside the home with the suspect.
Following a brief standoff, deputies took Jerry Ross Williams, 41, into custody.
When officers entered the home they found Russell dead.
Authorities said a 10-year-old girl, Williams’ daughter, was also inside the residence but was not injured.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office charged Williams with murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. Investigators said the shooting was domestic-related.
Shaw was transported to a hospital and at last report was listed in stable condition.
Williams is being held without bond in the Johnston County Detention Center.
