JOHNSTON COUNTY – Snow and ice covered roadways across Johnston County have caused numerous accidents since snowfall began on Wednesday.

The State Highway Patrol has responded to numerous accidents.

Among the crashes, a pickup traveled off NC 39 North near Bailey-Boykin Road colliding with a house. The home sustained significant damage. A Johnston County Building Inspector responded and deemed the residence unsafe for occupancy.

Not far away, a car ran off Highway 42 east of Highway 39 and collided with a tree.

State troopers and the NC Department of Transportation urge drivers to remain off roadways until conditions improve.
