Southbound I-95 Lanes Back Open Following Major Crash

JOHNSTON COUNTY — Southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Micro have reopened after being shut down for several hours Tuesday morning due to a crash involving two tractor-trailers.

The collision occurred around 6:00 a.m. prompting authorities to close both southbound lanes while emergency crews cleared the wreckage. The highway reopened shortly before 10:00 a.m.

One driver was pinned in the wreckage. After being extricated by Micro Fire the driver was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The other driver was not injured.

The State Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
