Stop Sticks End High Speed Pursuit

CLAYTON – Stop sticks ended a high speed chase with Johnston County law enforcement officers.

On Feb. 24 around 5:45am, Johnston County deputies were checking on a suspicious vehicle in the 800 block of Government Road.

Officers located the 2021 Nissan Rogue and attempted to stop the driver. The driver failed to stop and accelerated to speeds of 110 miles per hour.

Lawmen were able to deploy stop sticks near the NC 210 / Interstate 40 interchange, deflating the tires on the fleeing Nissan. The chase came to an end a short distance later on I-40.

Courtney Alexandra Sthilaire, age 43, of Beechleaf Court, Clayton was arrested and held on a $34,500 bond. Her charges include fleeing to elude arrest, speeding, reckless driving to endanger, resisting an officer, no insurance, and failure to yield.

Sthilaire was also served with a failure to appear warrant on a 2023 misdemeanor warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.

  1. Drugs are destroying a lot of families. This woman needs to get some help bc she is going down a bad path. Drugs kill

  2. I hope this woman does not make bond. At 9pm the roads are still busy, and she could have killed someone else on the road as well as the Police Officer. If she wants to kill herself that’s her business. Why are people so stupid? Another thing, she looks like she is on drugs, I’m going to guess meth by the looks of her face.
