Motorcycle Operator Arrested For DWI, Speeding

SMITHFIELD – An impaired driving suspect got the attention of a law enforcement officer traveling on N. Brightleaf Boulevard near Walmart.

On Feb. 23 around 10:33pm, a deputy sheriff reportedly spotted a motorcycle speeding 78 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. The deputy caught up to the speeding motorcycle and stopped the driver. During the traffic stop the officer detected an odor of alcohol. The suspect registered 0.13 on the Breathalyzer, above the legal limit of 0.08.

Lucas Matthew Aldridge, age 34, of New Creech Road, Selma was charged with driving while impaired, speeding, no motorcycle endorsement, and no insurance. He was released from custody on a $1,500 bond.

  1. I can’t believe this guy only got $1,500 bond. What was the judge thinking? This is why people don’t take the law seriously.
