Strong thunderstorms that swept through Johnston County late-Monday caused a number of power outages and scattered damage reports.
Town of Clayton electrical crews worked in the heavy rain to get power back on to hundreds of affected customers. Many businesses were forced to close because they were without electricity.
Traffic lights were out in parts of Clayton, including Main and US 70, and Highway 42 East at US 70. Clayton Police directed traffic for several hours until power was restored.
A large tree fell across Government Road near Barber Mill Road, bringing the power lines down with it.
No injuries were reported.
