Stuck U-Haul Leads Deputies To Burglary Suspect

WILLOW SPRING — A man has been charged in a November break-in after investigators allege he left a U-Haul truck — filled with stolen property — stuck in the yard of a western Johnston County home.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office arrested William Vaughan Olive, 35, of the 11000 block of NC Highway 210 in Angier, on Dec. 9. He faces two felony charges and two misdemeanors in connection with the Nov. 5 burglary on Honeycutt Road.
Deputies were called to the home around 10:53 a.m. after the property owner discovered a break-in.
At the scene, investigators found an abandoned U-Haul truck mired on the property with stolen items inside. The property — including a bed headboard, antique scale, ammunition can, irrigation pump and air conditioner — was valued at about $650.
Detectives said evidence found inside the rental truck, along with information obtained from U-Haul, helped identify Olive as the suspect. A pry bar and wire cutters recovered at the scene were seized as evidence.
Olive was taken into custody without incident.
