A Smithfield man has been arrested after being linked by sheriff’s detectives to the theft of a wedding ring last seen on Christmas Day.
The victim said removed her ring to wash dishes following a Christmas Day dinner. Later, when she went to retrieve the ring it was missing.
The woman reported the incident to deputies on January 6th. Officers located the woman’s wedding ring and engagement ring in a local pawn shop.
Christopher Glenn Tilley, 32, of Red Oak Drive, Smithfield was charged with two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses and two counts of larceny. The rings, valued at $2,000, were returned to the victim.
