Suspect Arrested In Armed Vehicle Theft

SMITHFIELD — A Smithfield man was jailed Friday after authorities accused him of taking a work truck from an acquaintance at gunpoint.
The alleged robbery occurred around 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, on Grabtown Road, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators allege Adam Corey Hill, 36, of Bakers Chapel Road, stole a Dodge Ram work truck while armed with a gun.
No injuries were reported.
The truck was later recovered.
Deputies arrested Hill on Oct. 2 and charged him with robbery with a dangerous weapon and larceny of a motor vehicle.
He was also charged with a parole violation and served with a failure-to-appear warrant for allegedly missing a court date on a misdemeanor breaking and entering charge.
Hill was confined in the Johnston County Detention Center.
