Suspect Broke Into Cars In Church Parking Lot

NEWTON GROVE – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help identifying a suspect who broke into several vehicles in a church parking lot.

The incident happened on Wednesday, April 27th at Hood’s Grove Baptist Church at 677 Hood’s Grove Church Road, Newton Grove, in southern Johnston County.

The suspect entered or tried to enter several cars looking for items to steal.  One church member later reported their purse was stolen.  Surveillance video captured the suspect arriving in a Cadillac, enter the cars, then leave in his Cadillac without being noticed.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact Detective W. McGee at the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office at 919-989-5000. Callers may remain anonymous.

    • The main part of Newton Grove isn’t in Johnston County, but the church discussed in the article is north of the county line, so it is part of Johnston County.

    • The address is in Johnston but the post office has them as Newton Grove. There are Garner addresses in northern Johnston too.

    • You do realize that breaking and entering means breaking the perimeter of something that doesn’t belong to you don’t you? Opening an unlocked door that you are not allowed to open is breaking and entering.
