Suspect Identified After Stolen Property Is Listed For Sale On Internet, Report Says

BENSON – Authorities were able to make a quick arrest in a stolen property investigation. Joshua Neil Burdi of Lee Johnson Road, Dunn was arrested May 19 on numerous charges including obtaining property by false pretense, felony larceny, and possession of stolen goods.

On May 18, a resident on Golda Road near Benson reported a utility trailer and moving cart had been stolen. The trailer was valued at $4,000 and the cart $30.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reportedly got a break in the case when the stolen trailer was listed for sale on social media. Burdi was linked to the theft and arrested. The trailer was recovered.

The 44 year-old suspect was held on a $70,000 secured bond.

  1. Bond was reduced to $13,000 and he got out on bond. After he set fire to the moving carts, cut the break lines for the trailer, scratched all the stickers off AND he has pending charges in Harnett County.

    FYI someone did the more leg work and found out more on this sorry guy!
    He should make restitution to all the victims by paid in full!!

    • Sad thing is hardly ever does someone see restitution. I know my mother hasn’t yet and it’s been over 19 years.

  3. I guess the county keep the restitution funds for the county personal expenses because people go and pay hundreds of dollars a day to the court house in Smithfield and I know because I know
